Grades
Grading Policy
The science final grade will be measured as follows:
Classwork/ homework 40%
Labs 30%
Quizzes/Tests 30%
Assignments must be completed by the due date. Failure to do this will result in a lower or failing grade and detention. Labs that are missed due to an absence can be made up with an alternate assignment. Students will be given one day for every day they are absent to complete missed assignments. It is the students responsibility to arrange for make-up work with the teacher.
FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!!!
Tutoring:
Ross Middle School offers the following tutoring programs to help all students be successful.
Homework Center
Homework Center is held in the Ross Library for all students and for all classes. If your child needs extra help understanding their lesson, a quiet place to finish their assignment, or needs to use the internet to complete an assignment, they are welcome to attend. Our Homework Center has 2 teachers at all times to assist out students. Hours for the Homework Center are Monday-Thursday from 3:00 to 4:30.
After School Tutoring/Activities
Teachers are holding after school tutoring in their classrooms from 3:00 – 4:00:
· Monday Language Arts
· Tuesday Math
· Wednesday Social Studies
· Thursday Science
Parent Contact
We encourage you to contact your child’s teacher via email, telephone, or parent conference. If you have any questions or concerns, your child’s teacher should be your first point of contact.
Parent Portal will allow you to view your child’s grades on a regular basis over the internet. Please sign up!
You can sign up for Parent Portal at www.episd.org., under the parent portal link
Transportation will be provided for students who stay for tutoring, if needed. All tutoring students will report to the Ross Library to pick up a pass for the tutoring bus and remain in the library until 4:30. The bus will leave Ross at approximately at 4:45.
